Article #126: Vintage Smile Soda Can
In this new article, we are looking at this vintage Smile soda can. Orange Smile was a flavored fountain syrup made by the Orange Smile Company of St Louis, Missouri. The company was created by syrup maker William F. Cox. The company chemist was Claude Johnstone. He patented this type of 6 ounce embossed bottle design for the drink in July of 1922. There were also companion drinks made by the company, like Cheer-Up and Buster Cola. The drink was well known for vibrant ad's which where put directly into the brick exterior of the factory in St. Louis. The brand faded in the decade of the 1960's. This can has the logo of Smile at the time, which was a Smily face. Under the smiley face, it says: Have a Nice Day. It has a orange and white color combination.
